We look back at Hearthstone's historic combo deck.

It's hard to believe that it's only been a year since Druid's Force of Nature was nerfed. The infamous combo of Force of Nature and Savage Roar was the lifeblood of Midrange Druid archetype and the veritable definition of a combo style deck. Combined with the strength of Emperor Thaurissan, it was possible to defeat opponents with lucky draws very early on in the game.

At this point in time, there wasn't a single Druid deck that didn't run both the combo and Ancient of Lore which used to draw you two cards.

Obviously, this was unhealthy and was one of the first problems addressed in Blizzard's new Standard format that was introduced last year.

We've rounded up some highlights that show the absolute strength of these two cards. Those who were around at that time will remember the sound combination like it was yesterday and for those of you who weren't, know that this sound almost certainly spelled death.

It wasn't the only nerf, of course, we also saw Molten Giant and Handlock die off, Arcane Golem lost its ability to Charge, Blade Flurry no longer dealt direct damage, and Big Game Hunter was muzzled.

These all came as part of Blizzard's "Keeping Hearthstone Fresh" update which launched alongside the Year of the Kraken.

We'll never forget the terrible feeling of being at 14 health and being left hoping that the opponent doesn't draw the last part of their combo.
