Just like we've anticipated, Frost Festival has started today right after the Fire Festival has ended. Fire Festival ending means no more double gold for the Quests (if you happen to play in a region that still didn't get a new Brawl, finish your Quests as soon as possible!), but it doesn't mean that the pre-expansion celebration is over. The new event is centered around the Arena, with free tickets and extra rewards for playing it.
Update: Blizzard has released a special trailer promoting the Frost Festival.
To celebrate the Frost Festival, this week's Tavern Brawl is Ahune's Superior Brawl. Players use pre-made decklists - Mage or Paladin. Players are immune and the only way to damage the opponent is killing Ragnaros? dummies on the board.
You can find more information about this week's Brawl in another post.
Each week, players will be rewarded with a single free Arena ticket. The ticket doesn't have to be redeemed right away. We don't know whether the free tickets stack (in case you want to save them for after the event), but we'll inform you as soon as we learn that!
Each Arena run started during the Frost Festival start at 1 win, which makes it easier to score higher and get better rewards! Remember, however, that you can't get Knights of the Frozen Throne Card Packs from the Arena rewards - you might not want to spend too much gold on new Arena runs and save it for the upcoming expansion instead!
With each free Arena ticket, players are getting a Quest to play 3 Arena games. The Quest's reward is one Knights of the Frozen Throne Card Pack. It means that each player can earn up to three Card Packs from this event.
The packs are added to your account right away, although you won't be able to open them until the expansion starts.
We don't know if it will be the only source of the pre-expansion packs.
While nothing has been confirmed yet, there is a high chance that the expansion is going to launch on August 10th. Frost Festival will last for the next three weeks and end on August 9th (Wednesday). Last two expansions were released on Thursday, which would line up perfectly with the end of Frost Festival - Knights of the Frozen Throne might get released the day after the current event finishes!
Just like in the Fire Festival, the "Wow" emote has special effects - with frost particles instead of the fire ones.
Similarly, a chilly wind is howling in the game's main menu!
