This is stupidly abusable. Run an aggro style of having no cards in your hand and this WILL win you games.

Also, Raymond Swanland. Respect. That guy is one of the best illustrators that Magic: the Gathering ever had. I'm glad that Blizzard is taking their art seriously.

Some things to remember when you have this card:

It's sometimes useful to think about this as a 4-damage card that costs 2 mana and 2 life (life tapping to replace the lost card) when you're trying to determine drafting value (or card value in general).
This is a big tempo-shifting card since you can play your guys AND do removal in 1 turn.
Make sure you've used that other card in your hand you really love before you play this (or play this as the last card in your hand for super value)
When you're calculating Lethal and you have 2 soulfires in your hand, realize that your first soulfire can discard your second, so don't automatically assume you have 8 damage in your hand.

So, why is it that most Warlocks use this card, but not the succubus, which only costs two mana and can deliver multiple 4-damage hits? I think they're both pretty good, and I'm having a hard time seeing how the latter is any worse of a trade-off for its discard requirement than Soulfire is.
