This card is used in
9.78% of all Warlock decks
pretty good way too dump a bunch of higher cost minions all at once at the field and suprise your enemy.
How is this card only "Common" quality, I'll never know...
Many players ignore this card(don't ask me why...), which is a huge mistake. In my humble opinion, if you're just starting as a Warlock, this card should be one of the first you craft. It costs only 40 Arcane Dust, and considering that you get 95 from the Crafting Time , it's really easy to get.
Having 2 copies of this card on the field will result in a cost reduction of 4 crystals. You could play more than 2 portals (with a faceless manipulator, for example) but you should have lots of cards in your hand to benefit from it.
I'm not contributing to this card one bit, but I have to say that the gold card animation is pretty awesome. Incase you haven't noticed, towards the end you can see the outline of the one and only Lord Jaraxxus. You can't beat that, unless you're Lord Jaraxxus yourself.
How does this stack with other effects that CAN bring the cost below 1? For example, I have a portal and a
, and play a 3 mana minion. Will the portal bring the cost to 1 and the summoner then to 0, or the summoner to 2 and the portal then to 1? Or if I use
at 12 health, will the portal take effect before the giant makes himself free, or will the giant reduce his cost to 2 and the portal take it down to 1?
Did some testing myself, the portals do stack (reducing cost by 4 but only down to 1), and when combined with pint-sized summoner, they can make minions free. I don't have a giant yet, and I'd be thankful if someone answered that question.
I find this card quite powerful. If I get a decent draw, and am able to protect the first one behind a taunt, things start rolling. Pull out the second one and your opponent better have some type of good aoe to clear or it is usually lights out in a turn or two.
Stacks nicely with Jaraxxus on round 10+ as you can draw a card with Lock hero power, summon Jaraxxus, and have 2 mana left over to summon a Jaraxxus demon.
If you have 2 out at the start of a round, you can play Ragnaros (8-2-2=4 cost) plus a 2x Faceless Manipulator (5-2-2=1) and have 3 Rags out there for just 6 mana.
It is one of those quiet but very powerful cards out there. Just for fun, play a Mana Wraith or two and that will cripple your opponent together with a portal.
Extremaly good in Murlock deck. Although it's quite easy to kill/silence/etc, and, in zoo type of deck, 4 is extremaly high to play.
But... Every. One. Of. Your. Murlocs. And. 1-3 zoo-guys. Are almost FREE!
