Good looking card. I've always liked using
to trasmog my 2 handed Axes.
Now that I know, Hearthstone will have Gorehowl, I'll try it for suer :D
Just to add a bit lore:
Gorehowl was owned by Grom Hellscream.
He slew Cenarius (while being controlled by Mannoroth) and afterwards Mannoroth with this weapon.
Because Grom fought with Thrall on his side against Mannoroth and Grom died shortly after the battle, it was Thrall who brought this axe as a gift to Garrosh Hellsream (the son of Grom Hellscream).
I have this card in the WoWTCG. Though the ability is different it is still very fitting of Grom.
Originally the famed axe of
Found its way into the possession of
somehow, along with
Both for the taking by any
who wanted to
and be a
Right before the war against
The Lich King
however, it was in the custody of
who gifted it to Grom's son,
Maybe the Prince took it while no one was looking but then later on Thrall found out about it and "took" it back to gift it to Garrosh.
Or maybe the Prince got it by "magic".
The item has only 1 durability but it can be made better by using 'Upgrade!', which gives it +1attack/ +1 durabilty. Basically it will do to your opponents' heroes what it did to Mannoroth.
When it gains durability via
, then attacking heroes reduces durability and does not reduce attack damage, resulting in a possible (3 + durab total) 85 damage (spiking for 40 during the first 4 rounds) - attacking minions reduces attack as usual (but does not reduce durability).
As most weapons, it's very strong when combined with
decks, especially because they benefit much from weapon attack. Hilarious when combined with
Acidic Swamp Ooze
counters this horribly (2 mana for 7 and a 3-2), so does
(though you get only one card out of it, it's still 5 mana for one carddraw, a 5-4 and 7 mana),
can also instantly destroy it (unless its durability is increased by one of the said methods). Having high damage-low health taunts (so not things like the
, more like the
) on the field could help too, because then the warrior will take much damage and might be weakened enough for finishers. Divine shields could also force him to waste much damage (but he might have an
or low cost
s to get through them, so this method is somewhat unreliable).
I really should have this!
This weapon is basically for when you either are about to take out the enemy hero or when you need board clearing power.
With 7 attack this thing can take out all but the biggest minions. Continuously using it while bringing out minions of your own can quickly turn the board control over to you assuming your opponent has nothing to destroy it with. If you have high armor at the time then it makes this card even more valuable, letting you take out minion after minion for minimal damage.
The greatest advantage, though, is how efficient this card can be. This one card can be the bane of 7 enemy cards if you're lucky. As any CCG veteran can tell you that's amazing value.
For anyone who didn't understand it. Attacking a hero still costs 1 Durability and will destroy the weapon after the attack (unless you have an effect that increases durability).
Theoretically, this weapon may have the highest attack in the game:
x2 → +4
x2 → +2
7 + 4 + 2 + 1 =
) — 18 attack.
Very unlikely to have all this in game, but everything is possible : )
Just for comparison: Rogue can get maximum 12 attack:
-What does Garrosh use to clean up messes?
Attacking a minion costs 1 Attack instead of 1 Durability.
Grommash Hellscream's famous axe. Somehow this ended up in Prince Malchezaar's possession. Quite the mystery!
