Druids who could become wolves were called Druids of the Pack. But the wolf form was wild and uncontrollable, so Malfurion banned it.
The Druids of the Pack attempted to control the wolf form, to purify it, but the attempt ended up turning them into the very first worgen. Unable to control themselves, the worgen turned on the night elves and Malfurion sealed them inside the Emerald Dream.
Choosing Charge changes the Druid of the Claw into a
Cat Form version
. Choosing +2 Health and Charge changes him into a
Bear Form version
. Nice little effect rather than having an elf charging at someone with their staff.

When played, this card
itself into a
4/6 with Taunt
, or a
4/4 with Charge
. Returning such a transformed minion to your hand returns the transformed minion to your hand, not the original minion. This means when you play it again, you do not get to pick which form it is in.
If you the 4/6 Taunt version, you will get a 4/6 minion without the Taunt. NOT a 4/4. This is counter intuitive because silencing either version of an
Ancient of War
will result in the same 5/5, even though the wording structure is the same. Ben Brode has clarified that
this is intentional
, although the identical wording
is not ideal
If you Silence the 4/4 Charge version, you will get a 4/4 as expected.

This card is a staple in almost every Druid deck. More often than not, the 4/6 Taunt version is used, and it is usually able to trade for 2 cards. Generally speaking, playing the 4/6 is usually the correct choice. However, against Freeze Mages and Miracle Rogues, the 4/4 Charge is preferable as you are racing against time before the mage/rogue assembles their combo pieces.
Ill have to say this is a really good card for being a common in expert packs. On an unrelated note he is wearing the naxx t3 for druids. I WANT THE NAXX T3 IM A DRUID!
Choosing the taunt version is good to bait the enemy removal cards or destroy atleast 1 strong or 2 weaker minions.
Choosing the charge version is good to quickly get that 4 damage off to either harass the enemy hero or kill a enemy minion with 3 or less attack (so you survive), or of course a 4 HP enemy minion who's a real threat.
