Great for smashing someone when you need to most.
This is a rather good card to get when you want to finish the other guy when he least expects. It goes rather well with my kind of play.
One of the few reasons to armor up AFTER (presuming you don't die of course) attacking as garrosh.
I dont see this as a good card as others think:
It requires 1mana but you have to use many more mana to build up armor, and on
top of that you can not damage player hp with it in the moment.
If it would be just rare card it would make more sense.
If it actually worked on the opponent's hero and not only his/hers minions, this would be a really good card. Now it only really shines if combo'd with Shield Block and used on high threat minions.
it's 4 mana for 5 attack and a draw card.
Note - your armour is not consumed up, I have played a Shield Block, Shield Slam, Shield Slam, Fiery War Axe combo to remove a board of minions. And you'll want to play in that order as well to provide you have enough armour for shield slam to work :)

This is way OP card.
Your Armor is not consumed when you use Shield Slam.
When there is spare mana, consider using the
Warrior Hero Power
first before using Shield Slam for an additional 2 damage.
Shield Slam is affected by
, but only if you have at least 1 Armor. That is, if you have Spell Damage +1 and 2 Armor, Shield Slam does 3 damage. But if you have Spell Damage +1 and 0 Armor, Shield Slam does 0 damage, not 1 as you might expect.
This is confirmed to be a bug by Blizzard on 27 May 2014:
22 July 2014 patch notes: Resolved an issue with Shield Slam where it was being unaffected by Spell Damage if the Hero had 0 Armor and now has Spell Damage sparklies.
Shield Slam is used in many Warrior Control decks. Ways of gaining Armor include:
Attacking/trading with minions while an
is in play.
with cards like
, and the somewhat unorthodox
Using the Warrior Hero Power whenever there is spare mana.
Right now, Armor pretty much functions exactly like life. Barring immediate death, a Warrior should always attack first before
. This is because there are cards that reward being on lower life (
), and higher on Armor (
), so currently it is strictly better to Armor Up after attacking.
As well as its actual effect, as a 1-mana spell, Shield Slam can be useful for triggering
and other spell-activated effects.
Shield Slam requires a minion to be used, so it can't be cast with an empty board, but does not require the hero to have any Armor. This means it can be cast by priests after using
Deal 1 damage to a minion for each Armor you have.
