having this card early especially if a mana crystal card is in play also.
can lead too quite some insane situations of dropping a 4mana cost card from the start.
A lot of people view this only as strictly an early-game card.
While this might lead to some memorable moments (2x Innervate + The Coin = Illidan drop on turn 1), this is not the only usage.
When it comes to late game, there do exist combos. One such comes to mind with the following:
Force of Nature
-> Innervate -> 2x
and you are bursting 22 damage in a single turn, only playable when you hit 10 Mana crystals.
BE WARNED: In current Beta, you cannot exceed 10 mana crystals. If you play Innervate at the beginning of the turn, you will NOT go to 12/10. Instead, you will go to 10/10 and the card will be wasted. If you wish to use 12 mana of abilities, you must fist use some, then use Innervate, and then use the rest.
Finally, there is some discussion about whether it's worth it to Innervate
s early on.
I've seen people claim that they like to go second so that they may use The Coin and
on the first turn. What does that really get you, though?
-You've given up 1 card (Wild Growth) which removes your +1 Card advantage.
-You've given up The Coin, which removes your other advantage.
+You've gained 1 mana crystal ahead of your opponent, who was up one mana crystal anyway from being first.
Solution? As far as I am concerned, aside from some technicalities involving the 4-card mulligan (ie, the fact that you could replace 4 cards instead of 3, meaning you had slightly more control over your initial hand) and the fact that the first player got to play a 1-mana minion before you could do this, and possibly slight deck-thinning, this more-or-less turns you into Player 1.
On the other hand, as Player 1 you can drop Innervate ->
, or Innervate x2 ->
I am a fan of the Nourish approach, since those crystals you gain are not empty, and thus you can stay in the game rather than being a punching bag while you invest.
Whatever method you choose to expend your mana crystals early, this can be advantageous or disadvantageous. Use too many cards, and you might end up with 10 mana on Turn 4 and no cards to use it on!
I'd Absolutley love this card, if it wasn't for the memories it brought up. *Shudder*
