If you gain control of an enemy minion using this or any other mechanic you become the owner of that card for the rest of the game. As a result, if the minion is targeted by a spell that causes it to return it to its owners hand, it will not go back to your opponent and will instead be sent to your own hand.

I read the card three times when my opponent first played it against me and I was sure each time it said "Battlecry", not "Deathrattle" and I thought the card was bugged as it didn't take any of my guys.
Nope, I just can't read it seems.

Best in a warrior deck, in my opinion, to combo with Warsong Commander, so you can, hopefully, charge into 1 creature killing it off, and mind control the other. Otherwise, it's good in theory but in practice she either gets killed off by the current creature opponent has or the opponent juar playa around it.

Blizzard needs to make this card batter. Sylvanas Windrunner is awesome and that card doesn't do her justice. I've seen her used once, and she was sacrificed instantly after being summoner to trigger her deathrattle ability. What a shame, it's just not good enough, especially for a legendary.

Before you make the mistake I did, if you use the Warlock card Bane of Doom, and kill Sylvanas with it, the demon is summoned before the Deathrattle effect takes place. You will not be amused, when you hand a 6/6 Infernal to your opponent in exchange for a 5/5 creature.

for balance I think she should be a bit buffed to at least 5 attack and 7 health making her a bit harder to kill this also give your opponent some time for him/her to get a Polly, mass dispel or a spell breaker to deal whit her death rattle and also increase her mana cost to 6 so you pay 1 more mana for 2 more health.

In my opinion the best legendary in the game. Her deathrattle means your opponent is forced to jump through hoops when it comes to trading minions, vastly complicating things for them and almost guaranteeing 2-for-1 or even 3-for-1 trades.

Even when silenced you still have a 5/5 minion. As some people know already, 5 health is a sweet spot when it comes to early game trades often always forcing 2-for-1 minion trades.

Sylvanas has a place in any deck and if you're thinking of crafting your first legendary look no further.

If the enemy has no minions when Sylvanas dies, the Deathrattle will have no effect. When playing against a Sylvanas, the best play is usually to trade off all your minions before sending the last minion into Sylvanas to kill it in the absence of silence effects.
When both sides of the board has a Sylvanas, and one Sylvanas attacks into the other, their Deathrattles will both trigger. Unfortunately, the order of triggering is indeterminate at this point, and there is a reddit discussion on this: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=439522. The 2 Sylvanas will trigger one after the other, not simultaneously. You will generally want to be the second Sylvanas to trigger and not the first. This situation occurs more often than you might think, particularly with the use of Faceless Manipulator to clone an enemy Sylvanas.
Update: Blizzard has acknowledged this problem, here (Blizzard forums) and here (Reddit).
Update: In the Naxxramas patch, Deathrattle effects will be updated to trigger in the order of cards played.

Hearthstone Update: Upcoming Changes for 1/13

Sylvanas Windrunner’s mana cost is now 6 (up from 5)

Sylvanas had power and stats that made it a bit too powerful compared to other 5-cost cards, which made it automatically included in many decks. We want players to have an option of what cards they put in their decks, so cards that feel like they must be in all decks (especially Neutral ones) are not ideal.

Also note:

Expert cards that are being changed can be disenchanted for their full cost for a limited time when the patch goes live. We hope these changes will increase the variety of cards you will see at all levels of play, and make playing Hearthstone a more fun and interactive game for everyone.

Brawl + Sylvanas Windrunner

Here's how it works:

Once you have Sylvanas on the board, drop a Brawl...

All minions get dumped into a pile in the middle of the board, kick up some dust, and then one random minion gets spit out and survives. If that survivor happens to be one of your minions, great. If that minion happens to belong to your opponent, Sylvanas' death at the hands of the Brawl spell will proc and you will instantly gain control of your opponent's survivor.

It's a great gimmick for guaranteeing that Brawl will always play out in your favor.

If you kill another Sylvanas with your Sylvanas and its your only minion, the enemy's death rattle takes effect after yours. So both Sylvanas die, you get a minion, and then they get it back. Sad, but true.

It should be noted that if your side of the battlefield is somehow full when Sylvanas' effect would resolve (for example, if you have 7 minions on your side including Sylvanas and Baron Rivendare, and suicide it into an enemy's minion while they have 2+ minions on the board), the effect will still go off... except the minion that you would capture is instead destroyed, similar to how returning a card to a full hand destroys it instead.

This was confirmed via the Naxxramas mage class challenge. What is unconfirmed is whether or not this will result in deathrattles going off (if I'm not mistaken deathrattles do go off if a minion is destroyed due to trying to be returned to a full hand, so I wouldn't be surprised if this follows suit).

I just had a situation where this minion granted me a Archmage Antonidas, while still at 10 mana crystals.
I could spam multiple Fireballs in a single turn, using Innervate, and gain these fireballs back to my hand.

Needless to say, the mage was not amused.

My opponent played Brawl with Sylvanas on his side. One of my minion remained, which was in the end switching to his side thanks to Sylvanas. Forgetting he even had Sylvanas, I wondered at first why it went this way ... :/

Hi there,

I'm trying to find the .ogg sound file that triggers when Sylvanas is played. I'm looking for the horn/trumpet sound, not the emote where she says "I have no time for games". Does anyone knows where the file is? I've randomly looked into spells0, spells1, spells2 and sounds0, sounds1 from the game assets.
